If your electronic kit is yearning for the latest upgrade, but you can't quite fork out for a Roland TD-50, then the Roland TD-27 is a more than worthy alternative. Of course, this module isn't quite as extensive as its big sister, but still serves up a generous plateful of many of the features that the TD-50 has on offer. Just to give you a hint at the level of quality you're looking at, this model uses the same Prismatic Sound Modeling technology that was first introduced with the TD-50.

So what does it actually sound like? The TD-27 is loaded with a bank of no less than 728 separate instruments and 55 preset drum kits, and if you're unable to find a kit that meets your particular needs, you can build another 45 custom kits, name them and save them. Meanwhile, every sample bears that acclaimed Roland level of quality: dynamic and ultra-realistic. Even if you're playing in a cramped back bedroom and forced to wear headphones, the built-in PureAcoustic Ambience technology will still make it sound like you're playing in your 'virtual' room of choice.

Bluetooth, SD, and More

With this module, you can also stream audio from your smartphone or computer via Bluetooth - ideal for quick rehearsals when you can't find your aux cable - and it's even possible to import your own samples in WAV format from an SD card. The TD-27 is set up with an integrated 28-channel USB audio interface, which will satisfy the most seasoned of professionals, and up to 60 minutes of realtime WAV recordings can be made directly to the module itself. And, if you're really not happy with the packed library of samples that come built-in and want to avoid faffing with SD cards, then you can simply hook the module up to laptop or computer loaded with sample libraries using the USB-MIDI port.
